Haircut

January 23rd, 2008

It was autumn 2002. I needed a trim, so I went to a salon that I had never been to. I made it clear that what I wanted was a TRIM, with approximately an inch cut off. The woman cut off four inches of my wet hair, so once my hair dried and curled, my hair looked massacred.

I sobbed and declared, “I AM NEVER GETTING MY HAIRCUT AGAIN!!”

January 2008 — I still haven’t gotten a haircut. However, over the past few days, I have been considering getting a haircut. The bottom of my hair is in bad shape, especially because about 6 (!!) years ago, my sister bleached chunks of my hair, so I still have some of that left towards the bottom. I want a few inches off the bottom (and someone who KNOWS HOW TO CUT CURLY HAIR!!!!!!!!!!!!) and perhaps some layers because it makes the curls curl a little nicer.

BUT I AM SCARED!!!! Granted, I now live in Newton so I can probably assume that people here are more likely to know how to cut and tame a Jewfro versus the salon I went to in CA.

I’ve been doing research on Yelp and I am considering making an appointment this week. I hope I don’t chicken out.

I would ask StaticBeth…she has curly hair. She might know someone good.

[...] I guess I never wrote about how I got my long locks chopped off, though you can see the outcome in the Sheep Shearing post. Remember back in January, I wrote about how I needed a haircut really badly after a bad haircut experience in 2002? And my follow-up post about how I got four inches snipped off? [...]
