Wedding Photographers
April 30th, 2007
Looking for a wedding photographer online has turned out to be quite a taxing ordeal.
So many of their websites have sappy, psuedo-romantic music playing on their site with no way to turn it off. Websites with music on them (and no way to stop it) is a big pet peeve of mine. I’m usually already listening to music through my computer speakers.
I think I have set a new rule: if a wedding photographer’s website has music, I will automatically not use them!
This wedding planning is making me grumpy!

They seem to have some good photographers listed.
We found an amazing photographer in Pawtucket: Dana Siles (http://www.danasiles.com/weddings.html). My wife wasa very serious photographer once upon a time, and we were picky about finding someone with a photojournalism style who could capture our event (we weren’t having a videographer). Dana was professional, takes incredible pictures, and was worth every penny. Happy to answer any questions you might have.
Hey!!! Sorry I didn’t reply to your comment sooner. I’d still love to get dinner with you sometime. Also, I wanted to email you my address for the save-the-date thing but the email I have for you is your old work one. I wasn’t sure if you could still get email from there.
Anyway! email me back so I have your current email and I’ll send you my address.
ps–I got a dog! :)
Hello,
Believe me, you are on to something! It is SO HARD to find a good photographer’s website. I’ve been trying to have my own built for years! It’s a nightmare! When it’s done though, I can assure you, it won’t have any Etta James song playing in the background!
I found your blog while browsing a listing of area blogs (I’m also from Newton)… and that’s when I noticed you were looking for a photographer. Though I do not have a website to show yet, if you don’t already have someone I would be more than happy to meet with you & show you my work. (It would be in print form, what a concept!)
Let me know if your interested, or if you have any questions.

Oh, and actually on the subject, I know someone who does wedding photography in case you’re interested. She’s at http://www.christinkhan.com.
Honestly, our wedding photographer twoo about five photos of the weeding party that mattered. We then spent the rest on about 100 disposable cameras and three cheap camcorders running minidv. Guess what we look at more!!?? That was 12 years ago! I still capture stuff from both and our daughter still plays with scrapbooking frames.
We own it all. It’s ours and it’s all digital. Our very formal pictures were taken in about 15 minutes from a stock wedding fotog.
Granted we were pretty informal all around, but we did have 400 guests and incredible food and a giant comped bar. Then we sold two of the video cameras that next summer for almost 2/3 of what we paid for them.
