Hi! I’m Troy McClure…you may remember me from the golden years of the Simpsons!

July 31st, 2006

I have a rant I need to get off my chest. Why aren’t any TV stations regularly showing older Simpsons episodes? The local station here that shows Simpsons reruns keeps showing episodes from the last 3 years or so…rarely anything from before. It makes me crazy, especially because I swear they keep showing the same 15 episodes over and over and over again.

I miss the episodes from about 1992-1997. Those were the Simpsons golden years! I miss Troy McClure.

I bet it’s because those older seasons are coming out on DVD and they’re trying to boost DVD sales. :-(

Ah Troy McClure… I still feel a sad loss whenever I think of Phil Hartman - he brought a lot of laughter into my life!

Me too! :-( Especially now that I’m watching the “Pee-Wee’s Playhouse” reruns with him as Captain Carl. Phil Hartman was great.

Oh my god, I HAAAAAAATE the tiny little loop of eps they are playing! My personal theory is that Episode A is on at 6:30 on Monday, 7:30 on Tues, 10 on Weds, and 10:30 on Thurs. It is just UNBELIEVABLE how many times I have seen the goddamned “Marge write a romance novel that trashes Homer” ep…and they have 15 freakin seasons to choose from!! I wonder if there is some tricky licensing stuff going on or something…

You’re right!! And instead I get to see the one were Marge lifts weights in the basement over and over and over again or the one where Selma adopts a Chinese baby. It’s making me insane. These episodes offer some amusement but they’re not the best ones out there…and they’re definitely not as funny when they’re aired weekly!!!

I think you hit it on the head with the DVD-thing. Which isn’t a bad thing, I guess. Besides, season one, with very few exceptions, wasn’t all that great.

Yeah, I’m not a fan of season one. The characters were really underdeveloped and it wasn’t as funny as it got to be in later seasons.

I have seasons 2-7 on dvd including the special packaging you had to send off for instead of the homer head packaging.
