Happy March
March is my least favorite month. April is good because spring is starting, even though it rains a lot. May and June have warm but still relatively mild weather. July and August are overly hot, but it’s the perfect time of year to lounge around at the beach. September is still warm, but the weather is getting cool and crisp. October and November have beautiful leaves, cool air, Halloween and Thanksgiving. December has the excitement of the holidays and oftimes the first snowfall. January and February are my “wind down” months, where I use the short days and cold weather to my advantage. I still enjoy the snow during those months.
But by March, it’s still cold and I no longer enjoy winter. The snow has ceased to be pretty, and usually remains in small greyish mounds gathered near curbs and gutters. I long for spring but it seems to take forever to arrive. There are usually no holidays, except occassionally Passover or Easter and neither give days off work. I suppose there’s Saint Paddy’s Day and the depressing parade in Southie but I’m not really a “get super duper drunk” type o’ gal.
Anyway, March is definitely my least favorite month. But I guess a major upside to March is that in just a few weeks we should be having spring weather! I do love winter, but I am so burnt out on it even though it was mild. I’m ready to bust out the flip flips and wear my skirts without my thick cotton stockings!
I need to get back to the Search Engine Strategies Conference now! I’ll be back in Massachusetts tomorrow.

I’m with ya on the “greyish” snow bit - in the city at least. On every street there’s like a mountain range of crusty old snow adorned with sandy pebbles from the back of the plow - ick. I get burnt on winter too, but usually feel like on 3/1 hope is near for winter’s end. The last week of February is the longest week of the year for me.
Have a safe trip back!
Did you know that March is the month that has the highest rate of suicides?! :(
March is an odd month. It’s not quite winter, not quite spring, as you said, there are no huge holidays/days off to break it up. Nothing against St. Patrick’s Day, but yeah, I’m not huge into getting bombed/going to Southie, either. Green *is* my favorite color, though! :)
I’m not a huge fan of March either. I, too, get sick of winter, but I have to cut March some slack. It’s not March’s fault; it’s an issue of expectation management on my part. One good thing about March in Boston is that it’s mainly still too cold to rain. And rain, by far, is my least favorite weather condition. Soggy. Moist. Even the words surrounding rain are ugly!
100% agreed. I could never live in Seattle or anything. I like summer rain and thunderstorms. When it’s 80 degrees and muggy it really breaks the heat, but when it’s chilly and rainy the weather conditions are the absolute worst! I’d much rather it snow!
