Project 365: 01/30/09

For today’s P365, Matt took a shot of some geese hanging out in the snow in his work parking lot. Matt also mentioned that they’re pooping everywhere.

I got glasses when I was 13. I only needed them to see the blackboard in school. By the time I was 18, I really only needed them for driving or going to the movies. By the time I was 20, I needed them ’round the clock.
When I was 21, I finally decided to try out contact lenses. It was traumatic at first, and I almost gave up. It took forever for me to take them in and out…sometimes up to 20 minutes! But I was determined, because I was so tired of my glasses. I finally did that, and had no problems with my contacts until about a year ago.
Sometimes my contacts will feel fine all day, sometimes I have to remove them as soon as I put them in. Sometimes they’ll feel fine until the afternoon. I’ve tried 5 different types of lenses. Some I couldn’t wear at all. I moved from Acuvue 2 to Acuvue Oasys and the Oasys are really thin, so they’re hard to remove and they rip fairly easily.
I bought some prescription sunglasses a few months ago, so that I at least have sunglasses for the days that my eyes can’t handle lenses.
Today was a first, though. I had to go home during working hours to take my contacts out because I couldn’t stand the feeling of them anymore. :-( I’m debating over whether I want to make an eye doctor’s appointment to try another brand of contacts AGAIN or if I just have to give up on lenses. :-(
Stupid eyes.

Matt made a delicious fillet mignon for dinner!! He marinated it overnight in wine, olive oil, and rosemary, then topped it with mushrooms and garlic. Finally, he put a sauce made of red wine, onions, and butter on it. On the side, we had carrots, broccolini, and scali bread.

Dinner at the Asgard on Mass Ave. with Mike and Shelley! Our appetizer was tater tots in truffle oil! I am loving the fact that tater tots are winding up on menus everywhere these days. An elementary school favorite made modern.

Making cookies for a cookie swap. This is the first time in a long time that I’ve made cookies that didn’t come out of a tube with a picture of the Pillsbury Dough Boy on it. I like to cook and I like EATING cookies, but I am just not much of a baker. Making these cookies was a big source of frustration for me, but hopefully the end result will be worthwhile. :-)

And now for something completely different!

To put a face with the name…this is Danny Gibbs, who winds up taking many of our Project 365 pictures! (such as the karaoke picture, the snowy bbq picture, the one during Matt’s gig, and more!) So the Project 365 picture for January 23 is dedicated to Danny…our photographer!
We had a relaxing Friday evening that included sundaes at Cabot’s.
