Say “cheese”
When I happily accepted the waitress’ offer to grate fresh cheese on my eggplant parmesan at La Groceria a few weeks ago, I didn’t expect to wind up with QUITE this much cheese.
Yes, she dropped the entire block of cheese on to my eggplant parm! Well, I do love cheese. :-)
Thanks to Eric for the photographic evidence. (And I love the new blog, btw!)

Up until a few years ago, January and February were my least favorite months. The excitement of the holidays was over, the weather was cold, and summer seemed really far away.
I have since grown to really like January and February. Instead of feeling disappointed that the holidays have passed, I feel calm. I now see these months as a time to decompress and relax. I use the cold, short days to my advantage. I can come home from work and I feel like I can just veg out around the house. We’ll turn up the heat a little bit, go under the goosedown blankets, and watch TV or play Karaoke Revolution. I don’t feel the pressing need to do something after work. I’ll cook comfort foods like casseroles or (beanless!) chili.
I also enjoy a snowy day as another excuse to just hang out. Plus, it can also turn into a day off of work if the snow is bad enough!
Another fun winter activity is going to warm ‘n cozy pubs! Such as The Publick House which has not only a great selection of beer, but cheese platters! Cheese platters! Cozy pubs are another favorite winter pasttime of mine.
So, the post-holiday winter’s not that bad at all. In fact, it’s turned into a favorite time of year for me. So vive la winter! (Well, until spring, anyway.)
