My blog is 5 years old

May 10th, 2010

WOW!

How my life has changed. My first entry was about bars Matt and I frequented…and now my life is spit up and diapers and teething rings. Not that I don’t love it, but it’s all just so different. :-)

Lots of lighthouses!

May 26th, 2009

On the way back from our trip to New York yesterday, we made a few stops along the way to visit some lighthouses in Connecticut. I just updated our lighthouse blog and here’s what we saw:

Five Mile Point Light

Southwest Ledge Light

New London Harbor Light

Avery Point Lighthouse

Keen For Gardening

May 19th, 2009

I wrote a few blog posts about gardening on KeenForGreen:

- Using ladybugs to keep pests out of your garden
- Plants that repel mosquitoes
- A beginner’s guide to composting

Our garden is doing well. I think the first thing we’ll be able to harvest is our raspberries. We’re being given some eggplant plants tomorrow, so hopefully those go well. We’ll have two varieties: Chinese eggplant and a green eggplant called Ravena. I don’t know what to make with eggplant besides Italian food (eggplant parm, etc) so we’ll have to get some new recipes!

I also bought some basil from Pemberton Farms today. We’re going to plant them in a few pots and put them around the yard, because apparently they repel mosquitoes. That was the inspiration for my blog post. :-) I hope it works!

I also went crazy at Pemberton Farms buying nectarines. Silly pregnancy cravings, but at least this one’s healthy.

Happy Mother’s Day!

May 10th, 2009

And Happy FOUR YEAR ANNIVERSARY to my blog!!!

For my first sorta Mother’s Day, Matt made me waffles with strawberries! YUM!

Keen For Green!

May 7th, 2009

Check out Keen For Green! It’s a site that my family is putting together about living green. I’m one of the bloggers. I’ve already written a few posts, including one on cheap ways to go green and one about composting for the beginner.

Keen For Green is looking for more contributors, both bloggers or just people to read and participate in the discussions. It’s still fairly new but we already have some GREAT content, thanks to chief blogger (and my brother-in-law) Sean.

Soon there will also be a module for “green” job listings.

Lots will be happening with the site, so stay tuned! And if you’re interested in becoming a blogger, please let me know.

All caught up with The Lighthouse Quest

January 3rd, 2009

I finally caught up with updating The Lighthouse Quest blog. We visited our first lighthouse of the year today. I think it’s one of my favorite lighthouses so far.

We saw 15 lighthouses in 2008, and we only started our lighthouse excursions in June…so let’s see how many we see in 2009!

Google Reader

December 18th, 2008

Google Reader is awesome. It’s an RSS reader, but the benefit of it is that you can share blog posts that you like. As you can see, I added a widget to the right of my blog with everything I’m sharing on Google Reader. You can also see everything I share on this page: Krissy’s shared items.

Annoying

November 26th, 2008

I kind of wish I never wrote that previous post, but I guess it’s too late now, especially with all the comments that wound up on Universal Hub. Sometimes I wish I wouldn’t open up my big trap, but then what else is this blog for? :-)

In other news, Turkey Day is the day after tomorrow. Let’s discuss that instead. Mashed potatoes, yams, pie, etc.

Thus continues our lighthouse obsession….

The Lighthouse Quest

We now have a blog for our lighthouse adventures! I have a backlog of lighthouses to write about, so this will keep me busy :-)

Social Networking and Illnesses

July 18th, 2008

A few weeks ago, I was contacted by someone on MySpace telling me about a new social networking site for women who suffer from endometriosis (as well as their spouses/partners). It’s called We Are Endo.

It’s actually a really great site. It’s really much like MySpace, with status updates, groups, blogs, etc. The Boston-area Endometriosis Support Group disbanded so at least now I have a place where I can login and feel like I’m not alone. The blogs are useful too, because you can chronicle pain.

But then, at the same time, because it’s a site for an incurable disease, it can also leave me feeling a little hopeless.
