Whitehouse.gov

How refreshing it was to visit Whitehouse.gov and see Obama instead of Bush’s smug mug.

Confession

January 20th, 2009

I’ve always said that I’m a lifelong liberal Democrat, but I have a confession to make. In Mrs. Taylor’s second grade at Brunswick Acres School, we held a classroom election for Bush Senior versus Dukakis. I voted for Bush because the last name Dukakis reminded me of the word “caca.”

It’s here!! It’s here!!!

January 20th, 2009

When Bush got elected the first time, I was very upset. When he got re-elected, I was devastated, and I thought this day would never come.

Sayonara, Dubya and YAY for Obama!!!!

President Elect

November 6th, 2008

I must have blocked out many things associated with Dubya’s presidency, because for some reason Clinton’s 1992 election and inauguration are a lot more vivid in my memory than George W. Bush’s.

I remember thinking it was pretty cool that Clinton played the sax, because at the time I was pretty into my clarinet. Woodwind power!

Prop 8

November 5th, 2008

I’m not really sure why people are so surprised it passed. An almost identical proposition, Prop 22 passed in 2000 with 61% of the vote. And in 2004, San Francisco began doing same-sex marriages and shortly thereafter the California Supreme Court put an end to it.

It disgusts me beyond belief…if California is supposedly a liberal state and a garbage prop like this gets passed, what hope is there for the majority of the country? How can something that discriminatory pass?

I’m ridiculously happy about Obama AND the Massachusetts ballot questions (No, Yes, Yes — it happened!) but this Prop 8 business infuriates me.

Right now I’ve never been prouder to be from Massachusetts.

Agony on Election Day

November 4th, 2008

Today is moving in slow-mo. I feel beyond antsy! I seriously want to take some Tylenol PM so I can wake up and know the election results. I’ve had butterflies in my stomach since yesterday! As confident as I may feel about Obama winning, after the 2000 and 2004 elections, I cannot really relax.

Plus, there are some really interesting ballot questions here in MA (No, Yes, and Yes for me), and additionally I’m concerned that Prop 8 in CA will pass. (I lived in CA during Prop 22, which to my dismay passed and subsequently got me interested in politics.)

I think I need a glass of wine. I’m wound up. :-)

Another reason that I can’t wait for the election

November 3rd, 2008

I cannot stand those Sununu and Shaheen commercials anymore!!!! They are driving me up a wall. Yesterday Matt was watching football all day and I swear, each commercial break there would be multiple commercials for both of them. They’re so scathing, especially Sununu’s commercials.

They’re also on the radio a lot, so sometimes we wake up to those awful commercials on our clock radio.

AND we can’t even vote for either of them because they’re in New Hampshire!!!!!

In 48 hours, not only will we learn who won the election (and these butterflies in my stomach will finally wane) but then I won’t have to see or hear those terrible Sununu and Shaheen commercials anymore!!!

Obama Button!

October 29th, 2008

I got mine in the mail today. Yaaay!

Only 6 more days!!!
